Counter-Strike Player Model Choice Tips

Player Model Choice Tips

When playing Counter-Strike there are a few other things you can be good at other than firing a gun, although admittedly, that's quite important too. For example choosing your model can be the difference between life and death in some cases.
Take an Arctic Avenger on de_survivor, The Avenger is a tactical model on this map as it is white like most of the map (snow). This choice of model would be a good one as you are disguised/camouflaged against the background on the map.
Another example, take the SAS model on a map like de_storm, a dark mainly indoor map where the SAS models all dark skin will blend in nicely with this maps background.
If you choose your model carefully to suit the background or texture on the map his can become a disguise and a tactic in your play. It goes without saying that the wrong choice of model on a map will make you all the more visible, but that doesn't stop people doing it all the time. Instead of rushing in, picking any model and hoping to make the pistol round....just take a little more time to make a wise choice, it'll pay off in the end.
So when entering a server look at the map and choose your model wisely, you must trust this it makes a difference!

Counter-Strike - Player/Model Guide

This guide is just a short picture guide that allows you to see each of the player models that are used for each team in Counter-Strike. When entering a new game you'll have to choose a team and a relevant model for that team. There are no functional differences between them, it's simply a matter of preference when you choose one:
  • Terrorist Models
  • Counter-Terrorist Models
  • Hostage Model (Not playable...needs rescuing)

Terrorist CS Models

Arab Model - L337 Crew

The Arab model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 3.

Arctic Model - Arctic Avenger

The Arctic model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 6.

Guerilla Model - Guerilla Warfare

The Guerilla model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 6.5.

Terror Model - Phoenix Connection

The Terror model appeared in the first beta release of Counter-Strike and has been with us ever since.

Counter-Terrorist CS Models

GIGN Model - French GIGN

The GIGN model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 6.

GSG9 Model - German GSG9 Model

The GSG9 model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 3.

SAS Model - UK SAS

The SAS model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 5.

SEAL Model - Seal Team 6 (Devgru)

The SEAL model appeared in the first beta release of Counter-Strike and has been in the game ever since.

VIP

The VIP model appeared in Counter-Strike beta 6, when the assassination gameplay mode was introduced.

Hostage CS Model

Hostage

The hostage model is another that has been here since the first CS beta, because initially the only gameplay mode was hostage rescue.

Defusion maps were added later on in beta 4.
